Veterinary Technician, Internal Medicine/Surgery | $25–$35/hr | Full-Time Benefits | Four 10-Hour Shifts | Natick, MA

Boston West Veterinary Emergency and Specialty is seeking a skilled, compassionate Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) to join our collaborative specialty team in Natick, MA. This hybrid opportunity is ideal for technicians who enjoy variety in their caseload, advanced procedures, anesthesia, and working alongside board-certified specialists in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment.

This role offers the opportunity to build advanced technical skills across both services while making a direct impact on patient care every day.

Compensation

  • $25–$35/hour, based on experience, technical skill assessment, and anesthesia experience
Schedule
  • Four 10-hour shifts per week
  • Schedule split between Internal Medicine and Surgery
  • Opportunities for overtime available through ER and ICU support for interested team members

Responsibilities
Internal Medicine
  • Partner with board-certified Internal Medicine specialists to provide exceptional patient care
  • Guide clients and patients through appointments, procedures, and hospitalization
  • Assist with advanced diagnostics and procedures including:
    • Endoscopy
    • CT imaging
    • Ultrasound support
    • Sample collection and laboratory testing
  • Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Obtain patient histories and maintain accurate medical records
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and administer treatments and medications
  • Provide discharge instructions and client education
  • Support efficient daily workflow within the Internal Medicine service
Surgery & Anesthesia
  • Work closely with multiple board-certified surgeons throughout the surgical process
  • Assist with patient assessments, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery for complex surgical procedures
  • Provide surgical scrub-in assistance for advanced soft tissue and orthopedic procedures
  • Advocate for patient comfort, safety, and exceptional nursing care throughout hospitalization
  • Support advanced imaging including CT and C-arm technology used in surgical planning and procedures
Specialty Team Support
  • Serve as a technical resource within the hospital
  • Help maintain high standards of patient care and technical excellence
  • Support mentorship and training of newer technicians when appropriate
  • Collaborate closely with specialists, assistants, technicians, and client service teams
  • Maintain organization, efficiency, and composure in a busy specialty environment
Qualifications
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience in a clinical setting
  • Strong anesthesia experience required
  • Specialty or emergency veterinary medicine experience preferred
  • Surgical nursing and anesthesia monitoring experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of radiographic technique preferred
  • Strong technical, organizational, and client communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced specialty hospital setting
  • Positive, collaborative, and team-oriented mindset
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
