Job Purpose: The Janitor plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for clients, patients, and staff. This position is responsible for ensuring all areas of the veterinary hospital—including exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, offices, and public spaces—are kept to the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Job Responsibilities:
Clean and disinfect exam rooms, treatment areas, surgical suites, and kennels according to hospital infection control protocols
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors and surfaces throughout the hospital
Empty trash and biohazard containers, replace liners, and follow proper disposal procedures
Wash and disinfect animal holding areas, cages, and runs
Maintain the cleanliness of restrooms, staff break areas, and client waiting areas
Launder hospital linens, towels, and scrubs as needed
Restock cleaning and bathroom supplies
Assist with deep cleaning projects and maintenance tasks as directed
Report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly to management
Follow all hospital safety, biosecurity, and chemical handling procedures
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping experience preferred (veterinary or medical setting a plus)
Must be comfortable working around animals of all sizes and species
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work for extended periods
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
Dependable attendance and positive attitude
Schedule & Compensation:
Full-time position (40 hours/week); schedule may include weekends and holidays
