The Virginia Veterinary Center (VVC) in Short Pump, VA is hiring a full- time Pharmacy Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team!

Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting veterinarians in all aspects of pharmaceutical care, including the accurate preparation, dispensing, and inventory management of medications. This role ensures the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceuticals and requires knowledge of veterinary pharmacology, excellent organizational skills, and attention to regulatory compliance.

Primary Responsibilities: 
Prescription Fulfillment:
  • Accurately fill and label prescriptions as ordered by veterinarians.
  • Calculate and fill CRI as ordered by veterinarians.
  • Ensure appropriate dosages, medication forms, and administration instructions are provided.
Inventory Management:
  • Maintain inventory of pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances, preventatives, and over-the-counter products.
  • Monitor expiration dates and manage stock rotation to minimize waste.
  • Order medications and supplies timely to maintain availability.
Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding storage, handling, and dispensing of medications (DEA regulations for controlled substances).
  • Maintain proper records of all prescriptions, including controlled substance logs.
  • Assist in audits and inspections for compliance with clinic and legal protocols.
Pharmacy Operations:
  • Maintain a clean and efficient pharmacy area.
  • Accurately enter prescription details into veterinary practice management software.
  • Ensure prescriptions are reviewed and approved by a veterinarian before dispensing.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field (preferred).
  • Veterinary Technician License required.
Experience:
  • 1-2 years of veterinary clinic, hospital, or pharmacy experience preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary pharmacology.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail in prescription handling.
  • Effective communication skills with clients and veterinary team.

Salary:
  • Compensation is based on experience and skill set. Starting at $28/hr.

Schedule:
  • 4/10 hour shifts per week
  • Weekend's and holiday's as needed
