Anesthesia Veterinary Technician, AESC

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Anesthesia Veterinary Technician to join our team. As an essential member of our centralized anesthesia department, you will oversee anesthetic cases across multiple hospital services, including Surgery, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Oncology, Neurology, Radiology, and Emergency. Working closely with veterinarians, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe management of anesthetic procedures, providing exceptional care to animals undergoing anesthesia and sedation.
Your responsibilities will include administering sedation, monitoring patients during anesthesia, overseeing their recovery, and maintaining accurate and thorough records using the hospital’s PIMS and Whiteboard systems.

Compensation:
- $25 - $35 hourly, based on experience
Anticipated Schedule:
- Full Time
- Tuesdays to Fridays
- 4x10 hour shifts
- 7am-5pm
Essential Functions:
- Executes prescribed anesthetic plans for patients undergoing anesthesia, from pre-anesthesia until recovery, and monitoring throughout.
- Perform patient pain assessments and develop proposed analgesic plans for cases using multimodal pain management techniques
- Documents patient care using AESC anesthesia forms in Smart Flow and EzyVet.
- Set up and troubleshoot anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment.
- Executes prescribed analgesic plans for anesthetic cases using local, systemic, and regional pain management techniques.
- Sets ups and maintains anesthetic equipment for patients.
- Identifies normal/abnormal anesthetic readings and collaborates with veterinarian to provide proper intervention.
- Troubleshoots anesthetic complications and alerts the prescribing veterinarian when appropriate.
- Administers a wide range of anesthetic drugs.
- Sets up and maintains CRI’s to treat a variety of conditions such as pain and hypotension.
- Facilitate anesthesia on a variety of cases to include soft tissue, orthopedic, and a wide variety of surgical wound repairs.
- Obtains samples for diagnostic tests such as bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Monitors anesthetic patients for a variety of diagnostics such as CT and MRI.
- Executes anesthesia on a variety of patients with ASA status ranging from I-IV
- Helps and supports other areas of the hospital as directed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience required in a surgical setting or anesthesia focused role
- Registered Veterinary Technician, in Colorado, or the ability to become registered upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience in a Specialty Hospital
- Experience with performing anesthesia for MRI or CT scans
- Experience with more critical anesthesia
- Ability to multitask and anticipate the department's needs.
- Excellent communication.
- Experience using Medical Record and Whiteboard programs in a veterinary setting.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
