Senior Veterinary Assistant, Surgery – San Francisco Sign-On Bonus up to $4,500

We are searching for experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our Surgery team!
The compensation range falls between $26- $30 hourly.
$5.50/hr differential paid for any hours worked between 6pm - 6am
Sign-On Bonus: SVA: $4,500
About the role: As a Senior Veterinary Assistant in the Surgery department, some duties you will be responsible for include:
Conduct triages and assess incoming patients to determine urgency
Communicate critical cases to the team and secure client consent for emergency care
Obtain thorough medical histories and maintain clear communication with clients
Assist with outpatient diagnostics, fluid therapy, and medication administration
Support surgical prep, scrub in for procedures, and assist in maintaining a sterile surgical suite
Monitor hospitalized patients, complete treatment documentation, and update medical records
Manage surgical instrument care, restocking, and equipment setup
Provide compassionate discharge education and follow-up support for post-op patients
Collaborate with the team on workflow, inventory management, and end-of-day tasks
Other duties as assigned
Basic Required Qualifications:
High school diploma
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
Consistent and reliable ability to monitor anesthesia, perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, , client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
Proficient in anesthesia monitoring.
Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassionate approach to patient care.
Experience in veterinary surgery highly preferred
