Our 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital provides care in internal medicine, critical care, radiology, and cardiology. Our modern facility offers a full in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasonography, on-site CT and endoscopy.

About the Job:
The purpose of the Kennel Attendant is to provide husbandry care for the patients, assistance to all doctors and staff, and maintenance care to the facility and hospital grounds.  The Kennel Attendant role is valued as an integral position within the overall hospital team.

As a Kennel Attendant your responsibilities would include:

Thursday-Saturday 8am to 4:30pm

  • Assisting technicians, assistants and veterinarians with the care and medical treatments for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Accurately transcribing or updating all appropriate patient documentation
  • Ensuring that the hospital remains fully stocked, specifically the back treatment area and exam rooms
  • Maintain a clean and safe hospital environment including floor care, restroom cleaning, lobby care, side yards etc.
  • Maintain and stock laundry room
  • Maintain and stock inpatient treatment area
  • Help aide in patient restraint
  • Ensure the safety of all dog and cat patients by securing all animal holding areas, using safe handling and walking techniques both inside the hospital and outdoors and by using safe and effective restraint techniques.
  • Assists with radiographs as requested.  Uses safe restraint techniques and wears all appropriate personal protection equipment.
  • Participate within the overall team in a productive and positive manner.

This is an entry level position for someone who is looking to get their foot in the door in Vetmed. After successful completion of 6 months employment, this individual will have the opportunity to grow into a more technical position within the Emergency or Specialty departments.

About You:

  • Knowledge of humane animal handling and restraint
  • Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to accurately carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Effective communicator with attention to detail
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Work history with animals, and a demonstrated comfort level with them.
  • Work history demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills as well as a strong sense of personal accountability
