Ophthalmology Certified Veterinary Technician, NAVES

North Alabama Veterinary Emergency & Specialty in Madison, AL is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our expanding Ophthalmology Department.

Compensation:

• $20 - $24/hr, based on experience 

Schedule:

• Monday - Thursday, 8am - 5pm

Primary Duties:

• Assist the Ophthalmologist with ocular exams
• Perform and/or assist in diagnostic testing (schirmer tear test, tonometry, ocular ultrasound, electroretinogram)
• Anesthesia - a thorough understanding of anesthetic drugs, monitoring, and equipment is mandatory.
• Ophthalmic instrumentation and equipment care
• General veterinary technician duties: obtaining TPR's, medication administration, pain management, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, general patient care, inventory management, radiology, Client education & communication, etc

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician in an animal hospital setting required.
• Veterinary Technician License required.
• Prior Ophthalmology experience preferred.
