Summary:
The Internal Medicine Department Liaison works as part of an integrated care team to provide high quality support and service to clients and referring veterinarians. Responsibilities include providing patient updates, filling patient medications, creating and presenting treatment plans, and discharging patients. Specific allocation of responsibilities may change depending upon the needs of the hospital.
About the Job:
- Provides exceptional client service in person and by phone
- Applies knowledge about medical conditions to answer basic questions and update the client throughout their experience.
- Responsible for coordinating communication between departments, call center, referring DVMs, and clients. This includes transfers within the hospital.
- Makes personalized follow up calls to check in on the client and pet post –visit in order to provide full service.
- Trains with department and assists with client-servicing tasks specific to the department
- Supports administrative needs for the internal medicine department.
- Can conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks.
- Understands the importance of a clean and orderly facility, does not hesitate to clean or organize as part of a normal job duty.
- Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees, veterinarians, and clients.
- Can discuss financial commitments with clients supporting hospital financial policies.
- Can explain necessary home care instructions, including medications and follow-up.
- Troubleshoots, handles and follows up on problems as they present. Seeks assistance with solving problems as necessary while taking responsibility for facilitating the outcome.
- Routes RDVM referral calls to the appropriate clinician or team member, as needed.
- Routes client complaint calls to the supervisor on duty or Hospital Service Manager if unable to resolve quickly.
- Facilitates in-patient visits
Wage Ranges: $23 - $30 per hour, dependent upon experience and education.
Schedule: 4/10's Days TBD. Shift may include Saturday
About You:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 1 year of customer service experience.
- Exceptional communication skills (both in person and by telephone).
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities within a busy clinical setting.
- Ability to effectively work as a member of a diverse team of clinical and administrative professionals.
- Pride in maintaining assigned areas in a hospital environment.
- Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn the electronic medical record system.
- Able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. with or without accommodation.
- Experience in the animal health industry.
- Knowledge of medical/veterinary terminology
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of customer service experience, particularly in the field of veterinary medicine.
- Experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
- Experience in a specialty veterinary facility.
