Our 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital is seeking a part-time Veterinary Ultrasound Technician to join our team. If you’re looking to expand your skill set and work in a fast-paced environment where every day looks different, we want to work with you!  

Opened in the summer of 2021, our new 19,000 sq. ft. facility has been purposefully designed with state-of-the-art equipment to assist us in fulfilling our goal of practicing quality medicine and compassionate care for patients, families, and referring veterinarians in our community. 

This is an hourly, part-time hourly position, working 2 ten-hour shifts per week inclusive of an equal share of the weekend and holiday shifts required by the department. 

Schedule and Compensation: 

  • Part-time
  • 2 ten-hour shifts per week, (varying shifts; 7a-7p, 8a-6:30p,10a-8:30p)
  • Weekends, holidays and some night hours will be required
  • Up to $32 per hour, depending on credentials and experience;
    • Base Rate: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
    • Overnight Rate: Base Rate + $4.00/hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
    • Weekend Rate: Base Rate + $2.50/hour (Saturday 12:00 AM – Sunday 11:59 PM)

  • Double-time rate on the 6 major holidays, inclusive of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. (Our holiday pay also runs for the entire overnight shift on the holidays)

  • Shift differentials during our non-traditional hours - additional $2/hour after 6pm on weekdays and during the day on weekends, $3.50 after 6pm on Fri, Sat and Sunday. 

Job Requirements: 

  • 1 year ultrasound experience with nontraditional and adaptive scanning preferred. 

  • Veterinary experience preferred but not required.       

  • Able to interact and communicate professionally between multiple departments. 

  • Able to interact with clients in a manner that supports Avets mission statement. 

  • Remain calm and efficient in a high stress environment. 

  • Pursue continuing education opportunities, both independently and those provided by Avets. 

  • Willingness to cross-train in other areas of the hospital (i.e. CT and MRI equipment) 

  • Schedule will include a portion of the weekend and holiday shifts required by hospital patient load.
