Veterinary Technician – Internal Medicine/Surgery Hybrid Role
Boston West Veterinary Emergency and Specialty | Natick, MA
$25 – $35/hr | Full-Time + Benefits | 10 hour shifts

Are you a skilled, compassionate Veterinary Technician looking to expand your capabilities across both Surgery and Internal Medicine? Compensation & Schedule:

  • Pay: $25 - $35/hour based on skill assessment and anesthesia experience. 
    • Additional compensation is available for anesthesia on-call hours
  • Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts weekly split between Internal Medicine and Surgery services
    • OT hours available to support ER and ICU if interested

Key Responsibilities

Internal Medicine

  • Guide clients and patients through their visits, working closely with our board-certified internal medicine specialists to ensure exceptional care. 
  • Support and perform various diagnostics and procedures, including:
    • Endoscopy
    • CT imaging
    • Ultrasound support
    • Sample collection, lab work, and patient treatments
    • Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Obtain thorough patient histories and maintain accurate medical records
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and administer treatments/medications
  • Provide clear client communication and discharge education
  • Assist in maintaining efficient workflow within the service

Surgery & Anesthesia

  • Guide clients and patients through their visits, working closely with our multiple board-certified surgeons to ensure exceptional care. 
  • Participate in patient assessments, diagnostics, treatments, and cutting-edge procedures. 
  • Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery for complex surgical procedures
  • Surgical scrub-in assistance in advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. 
  • Serve as a patient advocate, providing compassionate care and ensuring their comfort and safety during their stay. 
  • 💡 Level up your imaging skills! Our team is diving into advanced diagnostic technology, including CT & C-arm imaging, to support cutting-edge procedures.

Specialty Team Support

  • Serve as a confident technical resource for team members
  • Help uphold high standards of patient care and technical excellence
  • Support training and mentorship of newer technicians when appropriate
  • Collaborate closely with specialists, technicians, assistants, and client service teams
  • Maintain composure, organization, and efficiency in a busy specialty setting

Qualifications

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) required
  • Strong anesthesia experience required
  • Experience in specialty or emergency medicine preferred
  • An ability to work both independently and within a team, with a dedication to maintaining a positive, supportive hospital culture. 
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Confident, proactive, and team-oriented mindset
Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of veterinary technician experience in a clinical setting. 
  • CVT, LVT, or VTS preferred 
  • Anesthesia monitoring skills required, radiographic technique knowledge, and a passion for delivering top-tier patient care. 
  • An ability to work both independently and within a team, with a dedication to maintaining a positive, supportive hospital culture. 
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role.
