Animal Urgent Care (AUC Northeast) is a 9,000 square foot emergency hospital featuring surgical capabilities, ultrasound, radiology (X-ray), and inpatient hospitalization. We serve the greater Denver metro area while fostering a supportive, collaborative, and growth-oriented hospital culture.

• $20 – $23/hr. based on experience

Job Description
Emergency Veterinary Assistants play a vital support role in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency hospital. Working under the supervision of veterinarians and veterinary technicians, you will assist in patient treatment, monitoring, and hospital operations while ensuring compassionate care for every pet and clear communication with team members and clients.
Responsibilities
• Provide hands-on patient care, including cleaning, comfort, and monitoring hospitalized patients
• Alert veterinary staff to changes in patient condition promptly
• Assist with procedures such as IV catheter placement, radiology, and chemotherapy support under supervision
• Prepare treatment areas, instruments, and equipment for emergency procedures
• Support patient restraint and handling during exams and treatments
• Assist with basic technical tasks such as sample collection and lab preparation
• Maintain accurate medical records and support documentation of patient care
• Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and clients regarding patient updates
• Keep hospital areas clean, stocked, and organized (including laundry and inventory management)
• Assist with general workflow support and day-to-day hospital operations
• Help troubleshoot equipment issues and support small hospital improvement projects
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent veterinary experience with increasing responsibility
• Experience in an emergency or fast-paced veterinary setting preferred
• Strong patient restraint and handling skills
• Familiarity with veterinary terminology and basic medical procedures
• Ability to stay organized and manage detailed instructions in a high-pressure environment
• Demonstrated compassion for animals and strong client service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Strong communication skills and reliability in fast-moving situations
• Fluent English (spoken and written required)
