Summary of Job Purpose and Function
Responsible for the day-to-day care of the emergency and ICU floor. Aid in the support of daily cleaning tasks, as well as the restocking of hospital supplies. If necessary, aid veterinary staff with the maintenance of patient cleanliness.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide for the husbandry needs of the patients in the emergency department.
Clean and disinfect the kennels and runs after pets are discharged following hospital cleaning protocols.
Count and restock supplies as needed. When more supplies are needed, inform the appropriate person in order to help maintain inventory.
Completion of the emergency team cleaning lists throughout the shift.
Closely monitor the hospitalized animals; observe animals’ behavior, habits, and environmental conditions according to directed guidelines and report to appropriate team member.
Facilitate walks and exercise for hospitalized patients under the direction of the assistant and technician teams.
Assist with patient bathing needs.
Wash and disinfect patient bowls, litter boxes and bedding following hospital cleaning protocols.
May assist with restraining patients in a manner that allows the necessary work to be performed, minimizes stress to pets, and ensures the safety of patients and team members.
All employees will be scheduled and expected to work rotating holiday shifts in the emergency and critical care department.
All employees are required to participate in the on-call rotation as needed. Shifts are subject to revisions and changes at the discretion of the hospital.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
COMPENSATION:
This position has an initial hiring range of $18.00 to $20.00 per hour based on skillset and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred 1 year experience in veterinary environment.
Must have valid high school diploma or GED.
Knowledge of general cleaning procedures and protocols.
Excellent communication skills. Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
Ability to act as a team player, adhering to all core values of the hospital.
