Role Summary: The role of the Hospital Surgery & Neurology Department Supervisor (Nashville) is to provide direct oversight and support of on the floor staff and daily hospital operations. This individual models servant leadership, providing inspiration, direction and oversight to NVS Surgery and Neurology staff with the goal of driving their professional growth and development. This role provides support by leading to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining quality clinical care and business objectives. This individual demonstrates best practice to manage expenses, including cost of goods/inventory and labor costs. This individual will provide direct patient care and work on the floor to observe and understand workflow as needed. This individual should be highly skilled in EQ, follow through, accountability, and team building. 

Position Responsibilities include, but not limited to:   

  • Staffing & Operations Management – Schedule and allocate staff based on surgeon/neurologist needs, oversee case management, anesthesia techniques, and OR usage while minimizing overtime and improving communication. 

  • Training & Development – Educate staff on anesthesia, surgical procedures, and hospital protocols, facilitate certifications, onboard new hires, and create training manuals for department efficiency. 

  • Team Culture & Leadership – Foster a positive work environment, encourage accountability, proactive thinking, and clear communication while supporting department growth. 

  • Administrative & HR Duties – Conduct meetings, manage hiring, performance reviews, and corrective actions while ensuring confidentiality and interdepartmental collaboration. 

Requirements:   

  • Licensed & Experienced – Must be a licensed veterinary technician (LVMT) with 4+ years of experience; leadership experience (1-2 years) preferred. 

  • Strong Communication & Customer Service – Excellent client interaction skills in person and on the phone, with a mission-driven focus on exemplary service. 

  • Team-Oriented & Professional – Trustworthy, outgoing, cooperative, and a dedicated team player with a proactive mindset for improvement. 

  • Adaptable & Efficient – Ability to multitask, stay productive in a fast-paced environment, and work beyond scheduled hours when necessary. 

  • Commitment to Standards & Growth – Maintain excellent documentation, adhere to hospital policies, uphold NVS’s employee qualities, and take on additional duties as needed. 

  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
