Veterinary Technician Specialist
The Animal Emergency Hospital in Bel Air, MD is hiring a full- time VTS ECC to join our outstanding team in Emergency & Critical Care.

- Obtain and record detailed patient history and perform physical examinations as well as patient observations.
- Understand patient diagnostic results and create plans based on results for veterinary approval.
- Independently implement approved treatment plans delegating tasks to other team members as appropriate.
- Possess and master all technical skills commensurate with VTS certification.
- Detailed knowledge and ability to perform advanced imaging studies.
- Perform point of care and diagnostic ultrasound, review findings with veterinarian for diagnosis.
- Perform advanced technical procedures.
- Master detailed record keeping. (Patient history, condition, treatments, progress, and communications)
- Provide professional communication to clients and referring veterinarians.
- Ensure medicine is delivered in compliance with national state, and location regulations.
- Demonstrate leadership that fosters a culture of learning and continuous process improvement within the nursing care team.
- Collaborates with Medical Director and other leaders on medical policy creation, implementation, and enforcement.
- Provides input with problem- solving efforts for daily operations.
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships across the hospital.
- Perform basic to advanced anesthesia.
- The ability to organize and manage cardiopulmonary arrest of a patient while collaborating with the staff clinician to provide care and support to the patient and their owner.
- Ability to provide sound guidance and feedback on all aspects of nursing care including protocols, pharmacology, restraint, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of pharmacology, including medication/ treatment protocols/ mechanism of action, drug calculations and dosing, safe handling/ use/ disposal of medications, side affects, contraindications with other medications.
Education, License, and Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology, veterinary nursing, or similar field.
- Current credential CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT
- Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and active listening skills
- Strong computer and data entry skills
- Ability to think critically and work well under pressure.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in a high- volume environment
- Strong leadership skills
