Supply Chain Veterinary Assistant

About the Job:
As a veterinary assistant in the Supply Chain department, you will report to the Hospital Service Manager and after training, you will be responsible for:
- Receiving and unpacking all shipments to the hospital, prioritizing perishable items.
- Stocking, monitoring, organizing, weekly cycle counting, recording high use items, and conducting walk-throughs to capture low levels and deficiencies.
- Working with the SCC as well as staff to maintain and adjust min and max par levels based on current and forecasted use.
- Stocking and organizing janitorial supplies, break room supplies, office supplies, and all non-medical supplies used in the hospital.
- Pulling and delivering orders placed by the departments after purchased by the SCC.
- Assisting with annual and quarterly full physical inventory counts for VERC in conjunction with the SCC and departments.
- Monitoring, receiving, and handling oxygen and nitrogen tanks.
- Maintaining communication with SCC throughout the day to coordinate priorities.
- Review prescription refill communications left for the Emergency service in the Health Information System (HIS) and fill prescriptions for clients with doctor approval.
- Stock and organize the pharmacy area.
- Review Return-to-Stock (RTS) medications and waste or return as needed.
Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm (one hour break for lunch)
Three hours a day will be devoted to pharmacy responsibilities while the remainder will be devoted to supply chain.
About You:
- Ability to work in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required
- Detail oriented with good organization and time management skills
- Excellent communicator who can identify problems and has a solution-oriented mindset
- Must have the ability to physically move materials weighing up to 60 pounds on a regular basis and the ability to move larger, heavier items on occasion.
- Minimum of two years prior veterinary or hospital experience. Inventory experience preferred.
- Eagerness to learn the skills and knowledge needed for the position with training.
