Upstate Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Care in Greenville, SC is hiring a full- time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our outstanding Dentistry team!
 

Compensation: $29 - $32/hr, based on experience. Wage will increase with advanced knowledge & skill set!

Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week), includes on-call shifts and occasional weekends (once every 3–4 months), plus 2 minor and 1 major holiday per year

As a member of our Dentistry Department, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:

  • Assisting with daily dentistry procedures such as dental prophylaxis, charting, and digital radiography.
  • Monitoring anesthesia, assisting veterinarians, and providing recovery care on advanced procedures such as oral surgery, root canals, periodontics, and more. 
  • Maintaining and sterilizing dental instruments and equipment. Collecting blood, preparing fluid therapy, calculating and administering medications. 
  • Maintaining clear communication with doctors, staff, and clients regarding patient care and status updates. Preparing patients for discharge, including client education on home care and medications. Ensuring accurate and legible medical recordkeeping in accordance with hospital policies and protocols.
  • Following hospital policies and OSHA safety standards, addressing client concerns professionally and respectfully. Supporting a collaborative and safe work environment, and perform other duties as assigned to ensure high-quality patient care and smooth hospital operations.

Requirements:

  • Currently licensed as a veterinary technician in SC, or able to transfer an out of state technician license. Successful completion of the VTNE required. Graduate of an AVMA accredited Animal Science program with an AS or BS preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years working as a veterinary technician, with a strong interest in Dentistry. Anesthesia experience required, prior dental experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in advanced veterinary knowledge including restraint, diagnostic imaging, phlebotomy, venipuncture, anesthesia induction, monitoring, fluid therapy, drug calculations, laboratory equipment and procedures, pharmacology, disease processes, etc.
  • Attention to detail, with strong communication skills with both clients and team members
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
