Veterinary Assistant, Surgery | $20–$22/hour | Full-Time Benefits | Four 10-Hour Shifts (Anticipated) | Riverhead, NY
East End Veterinary Center (EEVC) is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Team!If you're looking for a hands-on Veterinary Assistant opportunity where you can build advanced surgical, anesthesia, imaging, and patient care skills while working alongside a collaborative specialty team, we'd love to meet you.
Compensation
- $20–$23/hour based on experience and skillset
- Anticipated schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week

- Clean, prepare, and sterilize surgical equipment and instrument packs (gas sterilization certification provided)
- Run CT scans from start to finish following department protocols
- Obtain orthopedic and standard radiographs
- Safely restrain patients for examinations and anesthetic procedures
- Set up and break down the surgery department for daily procedures
- Assist with surgical case preparation and patient care
- Accurately obtain and record patient vital signs
- Assist with appointments and patient history collection
- Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client service teams
- Maintain flexibility to support a rotating schedule and evolving patient needs
- Previous veterinary assistant experience preferred
- Surgical, anesthesia, radiology, or specialty hospital experience is a plus
- Strong patient handling and restraint skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Friendly, compassionate, reliable, and professional demeanor
- Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
- Positive attitude and desire to contribute to a collaborative hospital culture
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
