Schedule: Full-Time | Swing Shift | 36 hours/week

The Charleston Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC) is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency & Critical Care team in Charleston, SC. Schedule

  • One weekend day required each week

  • Holiday rotation required

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional nursing care to emergency and critical care patients.

  • Perform patient assessments, monitoring, and emergency triage.

  • Collect diagnostic samples including blood, urine, and other laboratory specimens.

  • Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, phlebotomy, and medication administration.

  • Monitor patients receiving oxygen therapy, fluid therapy, blood products, and advanced treatments.

  • Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, diagnostics, anesthesia, and critical care interventions.

  • Operate laboratory equipment and perform in-house diagnostic testing.

  • Accurately calculate medications and treatment dosages.

  • Maintain detailed medical records and communicate patient updates with the medical team.

  • Provide compassionate client communication and discharge education.

  • Collaborate with Emergency, Critical Care, and Specialty teams to ensure exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of Veterinary Technician experience, preferably in emergency or critical care medicine.

  • LVT certification preferred, but not required.

  • Strong knowledge of patient restraint, phlebotomy, anesthesia, medical math, laboratory procedures, and emergency nursing skills.

  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and efficient during high-acuity emergency situations.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Passion for delivering exceptional patient care and client service.

  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills are required for this role. Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
