ECVMC is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our busy, Sports Medicine and Rehab Department. In this role, you'll provide skilled technical support for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the service, ensuring safe anesthesia/sedation monitoring, accurate sample collection, and efficient procedural workflow while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care. You'll be responsible for assisting the doctor with all appointments which includes taking a history, patient restraint, formation and review of estimates, and filling medications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the doctor with all appointments (taking history, patient restraint, formation and review of estimates, and filling medications)
- Assist in preparing, positioning, and monitoring patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (e.g., arthrocentesis, regenerative medicine procedures, epidurals, diagnostic imaging, etc.).
- Assist specialty receptionists in scheduling therapy appointments, consultations, rechecks, and procedures.
- Perform anesthesia/sedation induction and monitoring under veterinary supervision.
- Collect, prepare, and process diagnostic samples (blood, joint fluid, tissue) for laboratory submission.
- Maintain detailed records of procedures, monitoring parameters, and patient recovery.
- Prepare for upcoming appointments and procedures by reviewing referral paperwork, medical records, and diagnostics ahead of time.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment.
- Accurately fill and dispense medications
- Anticipate the needs of the doctor during procedures to ensure efficiency and patient safety.
- Communicate with clients regarding procedure logistics, pre- and post-procedure instructions, and patient updates as directed by the veterinarian.
- Collaborate with all team members to support cohesive patient case management and continuity of care.
- Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and readiness of procedural areas and equipment.
- Support cross-training within the rehabilitation team to provide coverage as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Licensed/credentialed veterinary technician (LVT/RVT/CVT) strongly preferred.
- Advanced technical skills in anesthesia, sedation, and patient monitoring.
- Knowledge of commonly used medications including use, dosage, and frequency.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic and sterile technique.
- Ability to anticipate procedural needs and maintain calm focus in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs safely.
