At VSH - North County, our AAHA accredited hospital proudly serves the community by providing referral services in the specialties of cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency & critical care, interventional radiology, surgery, oncology, surgical oncology, ophthalmology, neurology, internal medicine, as well as integrative medicine such as acupuncture. 
We are looking for an  Hospital Services Manager to join our team!

About the Role:
The Hospital Service Manager is accountable for all facets of daily operations of assigned disciplines and/or departments with an emphasis on creating the optimal client experience. Areas of responsibilities encompass operational planning, creating an optimal client experience, training and development of staff, scheduling, interviewing, hiring, and corrective actions of assigned staff, safety and security of staff, clients and patients, and the review, evaluation and of assigned disciplines and/or departments.   

 
This position is exempt. Compensation range: $68 - $84,000 annually
Schedule: Evening shift with the possibility of working until 11pm and some weekends 

Responsibilities:
  • Department Oversight: Oversee the emergency, critical care, and overnight client care service teams, ensuring compliance and accountability for all standard hospital operating procedures and adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Resource Allocation & Staff Scheduling: Engage in real-time resource allocation to develop staff schedules (both clinical and non-clinical) to assure maximum productivity and service while managing labor within budget constraints.

  • Collaboration with Medical Director: Work closely with the hospital medical director to ensure the effective deployment of medical services within the departments.

  • Client and Pet Flow Management: Regularly assess and ensure the efficient and effective flow of clients and pets through the departments, ensuring proper care from arrival through discharge and follow-up.

  • Resource Evaluation and Recommendation: Evaluate the needs of the departments and recommend appropriate resources to meet those needs, including equipment and staffing.

  • Work Area Maintenance: Ensure all department work areas are clean, attractive, functional, safe (OSHA compliant), and hospitable for staff, patients, and clients. Ensure all equipment is in good working order and receives regular maintenance.

  • Financial and Benchmarking Management: Participate in evaluating financial and benchmarking information to ensure the best management of the departments and the achievement of business goals. Participate in the budget process and manage department expenses.

  • Collaboration with Corporate Teams: Work in collaboration with corporate teams in finance, human resources, marketing, supply management, and business development to ensure departmental goals are met.

  • Team Development: Develop and build teams, fostering mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members while incorporating the company’s vision, mission, and core values.

  • Recruitment and Hiring: Initiate recruitment with Talent Acquisition/People and Organization of approved requisitions. Participate in the recruitment, interview, and hiring for all open staff positions and doctors (in collaboration with the Medical Director).

  • Performance Standards and Reviews: Set production and performance standards and follow up through monitoring, assessing, reviewing, and evaluating employee performance (non-clinical) based on established standards. Collaborate with the Medical Director to schedule and participate in timely doctor performance reviews.

  • Training and Development: Ensure appropriate training for all staff, focusing on exceptional customer service and hospitality. Serve as a mentor and coach for staff requiring development and assistance in non-clinical matters.

  • Change Management: Work in collaboration with the Hospital Director to facilitate change management in the hospital.

  • Payroll and Workers' Compensation: Resolve and approve payroll matters through supervisors or directly as needed. Report Workers’ Comp claims promptly.

  • Supervision and Performance Management: Supervise support staff personnel and participate in performance reviews and disciplinary actions as necessary.


Requirements:   
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years managing or leading a team of 25+ people. 
  • Human healthcare or veterinary background a plus.
  • This role is on-site, located in San Marcos off the 78 and 15 freeway
  • The ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service.
