We are currently seeking to add Avian & Exotics Overnight LVT/Veterinary Assistants to our team!
Position Summary:
The A&E Overnight LVT or Veterinary Assistant is responsible for providing compassionate and attentive care to all GCVS patients, with particular focus on after hours Avian & Exotic patients. Key duties include patient care, client service, departmental organization and cleanliness, assisting Veterinarians and fellow teammates during exams, patient workups, CPC related tasks, triage tech duties, and maintaining detailed patient records throughout hospitalization. Strong communication with Doctors, Leadership, Charge Technicians, fellow Clinical Staff, Client Patient Coordinators, and Technician Assistants is essential to effectively carry out delegated tasks and ensure quality outcomes. This role requires a reliable, proactive, high-energy individual capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Compensation:
- $17-$34/ hr, compensation based on:
- Licensure
- Critical skillset
- Field experience levels
- + $3/hr weekend differential
- + $2/hr overnight differential
- SIGN ON BONUS!!!
- $2500 for Active LVTs
Schedule:
- Full Time (2 positions available)
- Sundays-Saturdays
- 3x12 hour shifts
- 6pm-6am
- 4x10 hour shifts
- 6pm-4am
- Rotating Weekends
- +$$weekend differentials will be applied

As an Avian & Exotics Overnight LVT/Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing life-saving care to pets. Your duties include:
Patient Care
- Safely transport patients within the hospital.
- Monitor and document vitals, intake/output, and patient alerts.
- Administer medications, oxygen, and treatments per DVM orders.
- Perform lab tests, maintain IV fluids, and manage bandages and wounds.
- Place and manage catheters (peripheral, central, urinary).
- Collect and process blood, urine, and diagnostic samples.
- Prepare and monitor transfusions, CRIs, and feeding tubes (PEG, E-tube, NG).
- Operate and assist with oxygen therapy, ventilators, EKGs, and anesthesia.
- Triage incoming patients, obtain vitals, and support emergency protocols.
- Assist in resuscitation, trauma care, and critical nursing tasks.
- Cross-train in client coordination, discharge procedures, and medication filling.
- Maintain accurate medical records and use hospital software.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients.
- Perform basic phone, documentation, and scheduling tasks.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of all hospital areas.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, kennels, laundry, and supplies.
- Participate in team meetings and leadership check-ins.
- Demonstrate emotional awareness, adaptability, and teamwork.
- Understanding of disease processes, pharmacology, and patient care protocols.
- Ability to calculate dosages, interpret lab results, and use medical equipment.
- Awareness of veterinary workflow, client service, and safety standards.

Who We’re Looking For:
- Licensed/Credentialed Veterinary Technicians/Assistants (LVT,CVT,RVT,CVA) or Experienced Veterinary Assistants with at least 2 year of related experience and/or training
- Prior experience with Avian/Exotics/Wildlife is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to thrive under pressure and make informed decisions in fast-paced situations.
- A genuine passion for animal care and a commitment to patient well-being.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
