With knowledge and compassion, Veterinary Vision specializes in the care of animals eyes. We serve the Bay area with two convenient locations and specialize in dogs and cats, but many other non-human animals will also be evaluated. Horses, pocket pets, and bunnies are a few examples. We offer advisory services to nearby zoos and wildlife rehabilitation facilities, and occasionally we even get to service farm animals.

With three board-certified ophthalmologists and more than ten support professionals currently employed by the practice, our goal is not only enhance and maintain the comfort and visual health of our animal patients, but increase the public's knowledge of eye disease in animals. Our mission involves not only partnering with a distinguished group of veterinary experts but also offering you a platform to develop and strengthen your skills.

 
We are searching for our next Veterinary Assistant to join the team!
The compensation range for this role is between $24.00 - $27.00 hourly.
 
About the job:
Our veterinary assistants
plays a key role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians during eye exams, surgeries, and treatments. Some duties typically include:
  • Restrain animals during eye exams, diagnostic tests, and treatments
  • Administer eye medications as directed by the veterinarian
  • Assist in procedures such as tonometry, tear tests, and minor surgeries
  • Prepare animals and exam rooms for procedures and surgeries
  • Sterilize and set up surgical instruments for ophthalmic procedures
  • Help during surgeries, including cataract removal or corneal ulcer treatments
  • Explain post-operative care and medication instructions to pet owners
  • Answer general eye care questions and schedule follow-up appointments
  • Handle diagnostic equipment like slit lamps and intraocular pressure devices
  • Collect samples for analysis, such as tear fluid or corneal scrapings
  • Maintain accurate medical records and document treatments
  • Clean and disinfect exam rooms and surgical areas
  • Manage inventory of ophthalmic medications, eye drops, and surgical tools
  • Assist with patient check-ins, discharges, and client communication

Basic required qualifications:
  • High school diploma
  • 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry
  • Genuine passion for customer service and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
  • Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy office
