Florida Veterinary Referral Center (FVRC) in Estero, FL is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Technician who enjoys working with complex medical cases, advanced diagnostics, and long-term patient care alongside experienced and board-certified veterinarians.
As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician, you will play an important role in diagnostic workups, patient monitoring, client education, and treatment of patients with chronic and complex medical conditions. You'll have opportunities to expand your technical skills while working in a collaborative emergency and specialty veterinary hospital.

Responsibilities
As a Veterinary Technician on the Internal Medicine team, you will:
- Partner with board-certified and experienced veterinarians to evaluate and manage patients with chronic and complex medical conditions
- Support diagnostic workups for multisystem and chronic diseases and help the medical team develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Assist with advanced diagnostic procedures, including abdominal ultrasound, CT scans, and endoscopy
- Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for diagnostic and medical procedures
- Provide skilled nursing care and closely monitor patients throughout diagnostic procedures and treatment
- Perform and assist with venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, laboratory testing, and other technical procedures
- Assist with anesthesia and patient monitoring as needed for diagnostic and medical procedures
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Monitor patient condition and communicate changes or concerns promptly to the medical team
- Educate clients about medications, treatment plans, follow-up care, and what to expect throughout their pet's ongoing treatment
- Build trusting relationships with clients whose pets may require long-term or complex medical care
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records, treatment plans, and patient documentation
- Communicate diagnostic findings, patient updates, and changes in condition effectively with veterinarians and the broader care team
- Help clients navigate complex medical recommendations with compassion, professionalism, and clear communication
- Collaborate with Veterinary Technicians, assistants, client care, and other hospital teams to provide exceptional cross-departmental patient care
- Help maintain efficient daily workflows, organized treatment areas, and appropriate equipment and supply levels
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician
- Specialty veterinary experience preferred; Internal Medicine experience strongly preferred
- LVT certification is prioritized
- Strong knowledge of advanced veterinary nursing and patient care
- Experience with restraint, diagnostic imaging, phlebotomy, anesthesia, laboratory equipment, and laboratory procedures
- Familiarity with advanced diagnostics and specialty medicine preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow patient care and anesthesia protocols
- Excellent communication skills with clients and veterinary team members
- Ability to adapt to the individual needs of patients in a specialty and emergency veterinary environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospital
- Commitment to excellent patient care and outstanding client service
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a positive, respectful team culture
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
