Overnight Kennel Assistant

About the role:
It is the responsibility of the Kennel Assistant to provide quality and compassionate care to all SRAES patients. Kennel Assistants are responsible for maintaining cleanliness in all areas of the hospital as assigned and assisting Veterinary Technicians (VTs) Veterinary Assistants (VAs), and Veterinarians with their shift duties, if asked for assistance. A Kennel Assistant must have good communication skills with the doctors, (VTs), (VAs) and other Kennel Assistants in order to perform the work as directed and produce quality results. This position requires a dependable, high energy person who can handle multiple tasks at one time as well as a high-stress, fast pace environment.
Compensation:
- $15 - $18/hr depending on experience
- Full Time
- Friday - Sunday
- 7pm-7am
The ideal candidate has experience and confidence handling companion animals, has excellent client service skills, works well independently, is hard working, friendly, and punctual.
Housekeeping Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized environment to support the health and safety of both staff and patients. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cleaning and sanitizing hospital areas following treatments, procedures, and examinations
- Restocking essential supplies to ensure smooth and uninterrupted hospital operations
- Performing laundry duties and addressing other cleanliness or tidiness needs as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized environment to support the health and safety of both staff and patients. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure the needs of our pre-op patients are met, including:
- Walks
- providing water
- maintaining overall care
- Ensure the needs of our pre-op patients are met, including:
- Restraint of canines and felines for catheters, blood draws, vitals, or Doctor examination
- Assisting DVMs in the ICU ward as needed.
- Typing on a computer keyboard
- Documenting legibly in patient records
- Performing general function of the phone system
- Experience with companion animals, providing basic needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to thrive under pressure and make informed decisions in fast-paced situations.
- A genuine passion for animal care and a commitment to patient well-being.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
