Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) – Oncology
Up to $42/hour (based on experience and skill set) + $5.50/hour shift differential for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM
Full-Time | 4/10 Schedule (Four 10-hour shifts per week, rotating schedule, including one Saturday per month)
SAGE Veterinary Centers – Concord is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our growing Oncology team. Launched in fall 2025, our Oncology service provides advanced cancer treatment led by board-certified veterinary oncologists within one of Northern California's premier specialty and emergency hospitals.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will:
- Deliver exceptional nursing care for oncology patients before, during, and after chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.
- Prepare and administer chemotherapy and oncology therapies under the supervision of board-certified veterinary oncologists.
- Follow established chemotherapy safety protocols and cytotoxic drug handling procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and team members.
- Perform diagnostic procedures including blood collection, urinalysis, laboratory testing, and imaging support.
- Place IV catheters, collect diagnostic samples, and monitor anesthesia for oncology procedures.
- Monitor patients for treatment response, adverse reactions, and changes in condition, communicating findings promptly to the medical team.
- Educate clients on treatment plans, medication administration, home care, and monitoring for potential side effects.
- Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
- Ensure oncology treatment areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety and sterility standards.
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client care teams to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
- Contribute to a positive, supportive hospital culture focused on teamwork and compassionate care.
What You Bring
- Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license in good standing.
- Minimum one year of specialty or emergency veterinary experience preferred.
- Experience with—or a strong interest in—veterinary oncology and chemotherapy protocols.
- Strong technical skills including IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and advanced patient nursing.
- Excellent communication and client education skills with empathy for families navigating cancer treatment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety, particularly when handling chemotherapy agents.
- A collaborative mindset and dedication to providing outstanding patient care.
