Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday Day Shifts

Bulger Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency & Critical Care team in a Ward Technician role in Lawrence, Massachusetts. This opportunity is ideal for a Veterinary Technician who enjoys inpatient care, patient monitoring, treatment execution, and supporting hospitalized patients through every stage of their care.
As a Veterinary Technician on our Ward team, you’ll collaborate with experienced veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, and specialty teams while providing exceptional nursing care in a fast-paced emergency and specialty hospital environment.

As a Ward Veterinary Technician, you’ll provide hands-on nursing care for hospitalized, recovering, and critical patients while supporting Emergency & Critical Care services.
- Provide treatments and nursing care for hospitalized patients and pre- and post-operative cases
- Monitor surgery recovery patients and accurately document patient status in the medical record
- Partner with veterinarians on patient assessments, diagnostics, treatment plans, and procedures
- Prepare patients for surgery, administer pre-medications, place IV catheters, collect laboratory samples, and obtain radiographs
- Assist with patient stabilization including IV catheter placement, drug/fluid administration, and CPR as needed
- Perform technical Veterinary Technician skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, and safe patient restraint
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
- Discharge patients with clear client education including home care instructions, medications, and monitoring recommendations
- Communicate effectively with doctors, Veterinary Technicians, and nursing teams regarding patient care plans and concerns
- Maintain hospital safety standards and compliance with OSHA protocols
- Support a collaborative, positive, and patient-focused hospital environment
- CVT, LVT, or RVT preferred, but not required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting preferred
- Recent graduates of an accredited Veterinary Technology program are encouraged to apply
- Strong technical nursing skills and attention to detail
- Experience with inpatient care, patient monitoring, and treatments preferred
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude with a collaborative, patient-focused approach to care
- Ability to take initiative and contribute to daily hospital operations
- Passion for continued learning and growth in emergency and specialty medicine
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
