Veterinary Radiology Technician Assistant
Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency (CASE) in Boulder, CO, is a leading provider of specialty and 24-hour emergency veterinary services in Boulder. We are currently seeking a Radiology Technician Assistant to join our team!
About the Role:
The Radiology Technician Assistant supports the radiologists and hospital by facilitating efficient patient flow for animals receiving diagnostic imaging, prepares and transports patients for imaging procedures, and restrains animals during diagnostic imaging procedures. They will also effectively communicate with technicians and DVMs with timelines and scheduling of imaging procedures for their patients.

- Oversee weekend imaging workflow, including request auditing, study scheduling, and quality assurance.
- Perform radiographic studies and train/support other departments in proper imaging techniques.
- Submit imaging studies for external interpretation and ensure reports are filed correctly.
- Coordinate with external ultrasound providers to meet weekend needs.
- Assist with patient restraint during imaging procedures.
- Audit and correct imaging-related invoices; liaise with billing as needed.
- Communicate weekend imaging updates and pending needs to weekday staff.
- Maintain cleanliness, supply levels, and biosafety standards in the imaging area.
- Request and manage prior imaging from referring veterinarians.
- Demonstrate independent proficiency in imaging techniques, protocols, and billing procedures.
- Adhere to special handling/biosecurity protocols.
- Support ER/ICU staff during downtime when requested.
- At least one year of veterinary assistant experience is required to be considered for this role.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
- Ability to multi-task and produce quality work while making effective decisions
- Ability to confidently work independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with other CASE technicians and doctors
- Ability to recognize situations where a patient is at risk and communicate these concerns to managing doctors
- Basic general knowledge of veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology
- Willingness to pursue skillset growth and seek opportunities to fill knowledge gaps as needed to meet requirements of the position
- Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant with job responsibilities that required animal restraint and taking radiographs
- Experience in a emergency/specialty setting
- Knowledge of EzyVet or similar medical record systems.
- Complete independent proficiency in positioning, methods, and quality assurance for CT examinations of all body regions with standard pre- and post-contrast series; knowledge of special contrast examinations is not required (e.g. triple phase angiography), but are considered beneficial qualifications
- Complete independent proficiency in CT/RT setup including positioning, mattress creation, bite block, and understanding of appropriate RT protocols
