Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) located in West Springfield , is looking for a motivated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners every day.
Schedule:
- Four 9-hour shifts per week, Monday - Thursday
- $16.50 - $20
- Work closely with our veterinary team to provide outstanding patient care, both independently and collaboratively.
- Assist with patient exams, including setting up equipment, taking histories, animal restraint (training provided if needed), radiographs, administering take-home instructions, filling prescriptions, and scheduling appointments.
- Communicate with clients via phone, email, and in-person, providing clear, friendly guidance.
- Prepare exam rooms, record vital signs, weight, and other essential patient information.
- Support daily animal care, including feeding, walking, bathing, and maintaining clean living spaces.
- Ensure smooth admissions and discharges, including proper identification, IV catheter removal, and returning all belongings to owners.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized hospital environment, including treatment areas, exam rooms, and supply rooms.
- Stock supplies and assist with deliveries to ensure the clinic runs efficiently.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and actively contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture.
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in a similar environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a cooperative, positive, and professional attitude.
- Excellent customer service skills and a passion for helping pets and their owners.
- Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and time management abilities.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn a medical record system.
- You possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills aimed at establishing long lasting, positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community.
- You are able to work well independently and in a team environment, leading by example and holding oneself accountable for quality medicine and customer service.
- You exhibit flexibility, dependability, responsibility, and possesses excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- You understand the importance of maintaining a positive, respectful, uplifting hospital culture and genuinely love working with people who share that same value
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role.

We are a 24- hour, VECCS Level 2 Certified, state-of-the-art Emergency + Specialty veterinary hospital.
Like human medical specialists, VESH supports primary care veterinarians with the evaluation and treatment of pets affected by trauma, chronic issues, serious illness, or unusual disorders requiring advanced training along with providing critical & emergency pet care.
We offer a variety of specialty services including Advanced Imaging (CT), Internal Medicine, Surgery, and of course Emergency and Critical Care.
