Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center is looking for a full-time Specialty Veterinary Assistant for our Surgery Department at our hospital in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

We are dedicated to providing patients, clients, and referring veterinarians the highest quality emergency and specialty veterinary medical care. WVRC offers a warm, friendly atmosphere where our main goal is to provide compassionate care to our patients and clients as well as offering outstanding customer service.
The Veterinary Technician Assistant provides key support to the technician and veterinarian staff.  Must be friendly, professional and courteous, and capable of handling several tasks at once with frequent interruptions.  Must be able to take direction from multiple staff members while adhering to training standards.
 
Essential Functions:
 
Multi-tasking and attention to detail skills are required.  Must have the ability to stand for the majority of the work period and enough stamina to work past the regularly scheduled shifts, if needed.  
 
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Restraining of patients
  • Cleaning Kennels, Floors, Surgery Suites, etc.
  • Stocking the treatment areas and surgery suites
  • Laundry
  • Taking patients outside and feeding patients as needed.
  • Maintenance of the surgery and anesthesia equipment and cleaning surgical instruments
  • Client communication to assist veterinarians with estimates, financial updates, take home instructions including medications and follow-up, and general updates.
About You:
  • Able to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community
  • Positive outlook, a passion for providing the highest quality in patient care and the ability to deliver exceptional client service.
  • 2 years’ experience in the veterinary field including veterinary customer service
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Schedule and Compensation: 
  • Four 10 hour shifts per week
  • Hourly pay starting at $17 and may be higher depending on experience
