As Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency (CASE) continues to grow and expand its services, we are adding to our support team and seeking Veterinary Assistants across multiple departments to help ensure our patients receive safe, effective care and that our clinicians have the support they need to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Located in Boulder, Colorado, CASE is a state-of-the-art, 35,000+ square-foot specialty and emergency hospital providing advanced care across multiple specialties and 24/7 emergency services. Our collaborative team includes board-certified specialists, experienced technicians, and dedicated support staff who are committed to delivering exceptional patient care while fostering a culture of teamwork, learning, and professional growth.

Colorado Animal Specialty and Emergency (CASE) is currently hiring Veterinary Assistants for the following departments:
  • Emergency & ICU
    • Overnight: Friday - Sunday 3x12 hour shifts
    • Days: Thursday - Sunday 4x10 hour shifts
  • Nephrology
  • Cardiology
    • Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 6:00pm
Compensation
  • $19 - $23/hr. based on experience
  • + $2.50/hr. weekend day differential offered
  • + $4.50/hr. overnight differential offered

Job Description
Veterinary Assistants are at the heart of what we do. You’ll work hands-on with advanced cases, support specialty and emergency clinicians, and help deliver exceptional care when it matters most. Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate daily patient care, including safe handling and restraint, feeding, grooming, ambulation assistance, comfort measures, and basic rehabilitation support.
  • Obtain and document patient parameters, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate concerns to the medical team.
  • Utilize Fear Free® and low-stress handling techniques to promote patient well-being.
  • Assist with diagnostic testing, laboratory sample collection and processing, point-of-care testing, and imaging procedures, including patient preparation and positioning.
  • Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians during treatments, procedures, and surgeries by assisting with patient preparation, recovery, documentation, and equipment readiness.
  • Administer oral, ocular, and aural medications as directed and within role scope.
  • Assist during emergency and critical care situations by providing patient support, equipment preparation, and basic life support assistance under supervision.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of clinical areas, including exam rooms, treatment spaces, surgical suites, and isolation wards.
  • Clean, sterilize, maintain, and prepare medical and surgical equipment, instrument packs, and procedural supplies.
  • Assist with inventory management, stocking, biomedical waste disposal, and maintenance of emergency equipment.
  • Support client service activities, including patient intake, history collection, admissions, discharges, scheduling assistance, and follow-up communication.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure completion of required documentation and discharge materials.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, safety standards, infection control protocols, and applicable regulations while demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Veterinary TA certification or current enrollment in a technical assistant program strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ veterinary experience required, with technical assistant experience highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills with both client and team members, with the capacity to support clients in emotionally charged and sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism. 
  • Ability to work independently and with little or no supervision 
  • Ability to multi-task and produce quality work while making effective decisions 
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology. Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous material, cleaning chemicals, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
  • Ability to communicate well with other CASE staff members.  
  • Fluent English skills (speaking and reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
