Pack and Prep Technician – Summit Veterinary Referral Center
Lakewood, WA

Compensation: $20-23+/hr (Depending on Experience)

Summit Veterinary Referral Center is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Pack and Prep Technician (PPT) to join our surgical services team. The PPT plays a vital role in ensuring our patients receive the safest surgical care possible by maintaining sterile instruments and supporting a highly efficient operating room environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Instrument Processing: Decontaminate, clean, assemble, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment, following strict infection control standards.
  • Sterilization & Monitoring: Operate sterilization equipment (steam, EO, H₂O₂), verify sterilization through biological monitoring, and ensure proper handling of sterile items.
  • Equipment Care & Stocking: Inspect instruments for safety and functionality, perform routine maintenance on sterilization equipment, report needed repairs, and keep OR cabinets stocked with sterile supplies.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, follow OSHA and hospital protocols, and contribute to a culture of safety for patients and staff.
What We’re Looking For
  • Prior experience in a hospital, clinical, or veterinary setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of sterilization and infection control protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced team.
  • Comfortable with technology (Microsoft Office, general office equipment).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods and frequent bending.
  • Able to work in a high-volume environment with focus and precision.
