Veterinary Inventory Manager, ECVMC

Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center (ECVMC) is hiring an experienced Inventory Manager to lead and oversee inventory operations for our growing specialty and emergency hospital. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting patient care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance across our 24/7 referral and trauma center.
Compensation: $56,000 - $62,000 annually, based on experience
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (with some weekends as needed)

About the Role:
As the Inventory Manager, you’ll oversee all inventory management processes across the hospital, ensuring supplies, equipment, and medications are available, compliant, and cost-effective. This role partners closely with hospital leadership and directly supports the Inventory Coordinator team, playing a critical role in both patient care and financial stewardship.
You’ll be responsible for building strong inventory systems, maintaining regulatory compliance (including controlled substances), and ensuring inventory operations align with hospital and corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Operations Team to ensure Inventory Coordinator responsibilities are executed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with hospital policies
Supervise and oversee all inventory management and ordering processes, including:
Ordering, receiving, stocking, and tracking medical and office supplies
Maintaining appropriate inventory levels to support hospital operations and patient care
Managing vendor communications, contracts, and professional relationships
Coordinating the purchase, replacement, and tracking of medical equipment
Reviewing, coding, and submitting invoices in accordance with financial controls
Ensure proper handling, storage, tracking, and documentation of controlled substances in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Communicate inventory status, shortages, backorders, and operational needs to staff and leadership in a clear and timely manner
Participate in and oversee mandatory quarterly inventory counts in accordance with Ethos audit standards
Oversee maintenance, servicing, calibration, and repair of medical equipment to ensure safety and regulatory compliance
Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of SOPs, workflows, and job descriptions related to inventory operations
Receive and verify deliveries, promptly addressing discrepancies, damages, or shortages
Support continuous improvement of inventory processes to enhance efficiency, compliance, and cost control
Qualifications:
Strong multitasking, organizational, and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
Professional, effective communication skills with team members, vendors, and leadership
Proven ability to delegate, mentor, and support the development of direct reports
Working knowledge of DEA compliance and applicable state and federal controlled substance regulations
Proficiency with hospital management systems (ezyVet, Cubex, SmartFlow preferred)
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
Comfort working around sick animals, hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, anesthetic gases, and unpleasant odors
Flexibility to work occasional weekends and holidays as operational needs require
Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus
