Join our collaborative specialty hospital team as a Recovery Veterinary Technician, supporting patients recovering from complex surgical, anesthesia, emergency, and critical care procedures. This role works closely with Surgery, Anesthesia, ICU, and inpatient teams to provide high-level monitoring and recovery care in a fast-paced specialty environment.

Compensation & Schedule

About the Role
  • This position reports directly to the Emergency & Critical Care service while supporting hospitalized surgical patients across multiple specialties. Cases range from routine procedures to advanced orthopedic, thoracic, abdominal, and critical care recoveries.
Responsibilities
  • Provide continuous monitoring and nursing care for post-operative patients
  • Monitor pain, mentation, cardiovascular and respiratory status during recovery
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition or post-operative complications
  • Collaborate with Surgery, Anesthesia, Emergency/Critical Care, and inpatient teams
  • Manage advanced supportive care including:
    • Central lines
    • Feeding tubes
    • Urinary catheters
    • Drains
    • CRIs
    • Telemetry
  • Maintain accurate treatment records and patient documentation
  • Support individualized recovery and nursing care plans
  • Assist with patient positioning, recumbency care, and comfort during recovery
  • Operate and troubleshoot advanced monitoring equipment
Qualifications
  • Veterinary Technician experience in surgery, ICU, ER, anesthesia, or specialty medicine preferred
  • CVT, RVT, or LVT preferred
  • Strong understanding of anesthesia recovery and post-operative patient care
  • Ability to identify pain, dysphoria, anxiety, and recovery complications
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment
