Veterinary Sedation Coordinator Technician

Compensation:
- $20-$22/ hr based on experience

- Full Time
- 4x10 hour shifts
- Rotating Weekends
- 4x10 hour shifts
The Sedation Coordinator Technician plays a critical "air traffic control" role within the Diagnostic Imaging department, with a primary focus on the ultrasound service. This position is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the daily ultrasound schedule, ensuring efficient workflow and minimal delays. Key responsibilities include communicating with physicians and other departments to obtain and manage sedation documentation, assisting in the sedation of patients, and accurately calculating drug dosages. The technician must keep the schedule on track throughout the day, proactively resolving conflicts and adjusting plans as needed in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calculate and prepare sedation drugs for patients based on prescribed dosages, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Coordinate the schedule, adjusting for any last-minute changes or additional patients as needed.
- Monitor patient care during the sedation process, ensuring all patients receive excellent, high-quality care.
- Ensure proper vital sign monitoring (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, etc.) throughout the sedation process.
- Assess and interpret the effects of sedation drugs on patients, ensuring they are within normal ranges.
- Provide guidance and support to veterinary technicians/ assistants regarding patient reactions, answering any questions they may have about the sedation process and whether symptoms are normal.
- Stay flexible and adaptable to accommodate last-minute changes in the schedule or additional patients needing imaging.
- Maintain composure and remain calm in high-stress situations, effectively managing any unexpected challenges during the imaging process.
- Serve as a role model for the team, setting a positive example in both attitude and work ethic.
- Promote team morale, fostering a collaborative, supportive, and positive environment among the sedation team and other veterinary staff.
- Demonstrate advanced veterinary technician skills, including placing IV catheters, emergency intubation, monitoring blood pressure, and understanding normal and abnormal vital sign ranges.
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) with at least 2 year of experience in an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital.
- Prior experience in Diagnostic Imaging is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
