Veterinary Technician (RVT) Lead opportunity in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Join Maritime Veterinary Emergency + Specialty Centre, a 24,000 sq. ft. emergency and specialty hospital where you'll combine advanced clinical veterinary technician skills with leadership responsibilities. This is an opportunity for an experienced RVT to mentor fellow Veterinary Technicians, support exceptional patient care, and help shape the future of a growing emergency and specialty team.

Compensation

  • $35–$42/hour
  • We recognize outstanding experience and impact, and higher compensation may be considered for candidates who bring significant leadership experience and can make an immediate contribution to the team.
Schedule
  • Weekday availability required
  • Participation in a rotating weekend schedule

Responsibilities
As a Veterinary Technician Lead, you'll provide exceptional patient care while serving as a mentor and resource for your fellow Veterinary Technicians.
  • Mentor, coach, and support Veterinary Technicians to encourage professional growth, confidence, and clinical excellence
  • Deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency and specialty veterinary hospital environment
  • Partner with hospital leadership to improve workflows, efficiency, and patient outcomes
  • Support team members during complex, critical, and high-stress cases
  • Help foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and development initiatives for Veterinary Technicians
  • Contribute to scheduling support and team performance initiatives
  • Serve as a clinical role model by demonstrating advanced technical skills and patient advocacy
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and clients to ensure seamless patient care
Qualifications
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or mentorship experience preferred
  • Strong emergency, critical care, or specialty medicine experience preferred
  • Positive attitude with a demonstrated ability to motivate and support team members
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and supportive in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for patient care, professional development, and continuous learning
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
