Compensation: $32-$36/hour, based on experience and licensure.
Additional compensation available for VTS candidates
Schedule: Full-time • Four 10-hour shifts • Wednesday-Saturday • Swing Shift

South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (SAVES) is seeking a Veterinary Technician Supervisor to help lead our Emergency & Critical Care department. This is an opportunity for a skilled technician leader who enjoys mentoring others, improving hospital operations, and remaining actively involved in patient care.

About the Role:
As the Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician Supervisor, you'll provide day-to-day leadership for our ECC nursing team while continuing to support patient care in a fast-paced specialty environment.
This position combines leadership, coaching, and operational oversight with hands-on technical responsibilities. We're looking for someone who communicates effectively, builds trust with their team, and enjoys creating efficient workflows while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
What You'll Do:
Lead and Support the Team -
- Supervise and mentor Emergency & Critical Care technicians
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture
- Coach team members through performance development and regular feedback
- Assist with conflict resolution and promote respectful communication
Clinical Leadership -
- Provide hands-on technical support during busy or complex cases
- Lead by example through exceptional nursing care
- Assist with implementation of new medical protocols and workflows
- Ensure high standards of patient care and safety
Operations -
- Coordinate daily staffing assignments and workflow
- Help maintain adequate department coverage
- Update and maintain standard operating procedures
- Support hospital initiatives and departmental projects
Training & Development -
- Assist with onboarding and training new technicians
- Support continuing education and professional development
- Help maintain technician competency and skill progression
Collaboration -
- Partner closely with specialists, emergency clinicians, and hospital leadership
- Facilitate department communication and team meetings
- Promote collaboration across all hospital departments
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership, lead technician, or supervisory experience
- Experience in emergency, specialty, or critical care veterinary medicine
- Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Positive, solution-oriented leadership style
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ezyVet and SmartFlow
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) credential
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills
