Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Three 12-hour shifts, with participation in an on-call rotation

At Pet Emergency & Referral Center, our Surgery team works alongside board-certified surgeons to provide advanced orthopedic, soft tissue, thoracic, and minimally invasive procedures. As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you'll play an essential role before, during, and after surgery, utilizing your technical expertise while continuing to grow through mentorship, collaboration, and advanced specialty medicine.

What You'll Do -
As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you'll be a vital member of our surgical team by:
- Partnering closely with our board-certified surgeons throughout the surgical process
- Assisting with patient assessments, diagnostics, treatment plans, and surgical procedures
- Planning, inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia for a wide variety of surgical cases
- Serving as both a circulating nurse and scrub technician during orthopedic, soft tissue, thoracic, and minimally invasive procedures
- Preparing patients for surgery, including clipping, surgical prep, positioning, and instrumentation
- Monitoring patients closely throughout anesthesia and recovery while advocating for patient safety
- Calculating and administering anesthetic medications and continuous rate infusions (CRIs)
- Providing exceptional nursing care before and after surgery
- Maintaining accurate medical records and communicating effectively with the surgical team
- Supporting clients with compassion and professionalism throughout their pet's surgical experience

What We're Looking For -
We're seeking a technician who is:
- Passionate about surgery, anesthesia, and specialty medicine

- A collaborative teammate who enjoys working closely with surgeons and fellow technicians
- Committed to delivering exceptional patient care and client service
- Dependable, adaptable, and eager to continue developing advanced technical skills
Qualifications -
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician, preferably in specialty surgery, anesthesia, emergency, or specialty medicine
- LVT, CVT, or RVT preferred, but not required
- Strong understanding of anesthesia monitoring and recovery for orthopedic, abdominal, thoracic, and minimally invasive procedures
- Experience with surgical preparation, patient positioning, sterile technique, and surgical instrumentation
- Knowledge of CRI calculations, anesthetic medications, and perioperative nursing care
- Proficiency in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic imaging, laboratory procedures, and patient assessment
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; additional language skills are a plus
