As Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency continues to grow and expand its surgical and specialty services, we are adding to our support team and seeking a Veterinary Anesthesia Technician to help ensure our surgical patients receive safe, effective anesthesia care and that our clinicians have the support they need to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Located in Boulder, Colorado, CASE is a state-of-the-art, 35,000+ square-foot specialty and emergency hospital providing advanced care across multiple specialties and 24/7 emergency services. Our collaborative team includes board-certified specialists, experienced technicians, and dedicated support staff who are committed to delivering exceptional patient care while fostering a culture of teamwork, learning, and professional growth.
Compensation
- $25 - $31/hr. based on experience

Job Description
Anesthesia Technicians are a part of a centralized department that are responsible for monitoring anesthetic cases hospital wide including services such as: Surgery, Internal Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Critical Care, Neurology, Radiology, Pain Management, Emergency and Nephrology. They operate under the supervision of the anesthesiologist and the specialty manager.
Responsibilities
Anesthesia Technicians are a part of a centralized department that are responsible for monitoring anesthetic cases hospital wide including services such as: Surgery, Internal Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Critical Care, Neurology, Radiology, Pain Management, Emergency and Nephrology. They operate under the supervision of the anesthesiologist and the specialty manager.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-anesthesia evaluations to assess patient safety and surgical risks.
- Skilled in implementing anesthetic plans from pre-anesthesia to recovery, including continuous monitoring.
- Perform pain assessments and develop multimodal pain management plans.
- Proficient in using CASE anesthesia forms within Smartflow and EzVet systems.
- Set up and troubleshoot anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment.
- Knowledgeable in the maintenance and operation of anesthesia machines.
- Implement prescribed analgesic plans using local, systemic, and regional pain management methods.
- Capable of setting up and maintaining equipment, with the ability to identify normal and abnormal ECG readings.
- Understand hemodynamics associated with anesthesia-induced hypotension and troubleshoot anesthesia-related complications.
- Familiar with vasopressor therapy and know when to initiate it during anesthesia.
- Ability to prepare and manage a vasopressor CRI, including norepinephrine, dopamine, dobutamine, vasopressin, and epinephrine.
- Proficient in assessing a patient’s ventilation, oxygenation, and acid-base balance using pulse oximetry, capnography, and arterial blood gas analysis.
Qualifications
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with at least 2 years of applicable experience
- At least 2 year of experience within a specialty veterinary hospital preferred, preferably within an anesthesia department
- Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures and terminology
- Safely handle, lift, and restrain dogs/cats; stand for extended periods
- Perform venipuncture and place peripheral IV catheters using aseptic technique
- Basic surgical experience preferred
- Communicate effectively with technicians, assistants, doctors, and staff
- Detail-oriented multitasker with strong decision-making skills in fast-paced settings
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
