ETHOS Veterinary Health is seeking a dedicated Field Human Resources Manager to provide invaluable support to our vibrant veterinary hospitals across Southern California.
This position is in-person and onsite, requiring frequent travel between the following hospitals:
Veterinary Specialty Hospital, Sorrento Valley
Veterinary Specialty Hospital, North County
Animal Emergency Clinic, Grand Terrace
Urgent Care, Rancho Penasquitos
Pacific Care, Irvine

Compensation:
$80,000 - $90,000 base compensation, with a variable bonus based on the company’s annual incentive program
Key Responsibilities:
- Empowerment and Support: Serve as the go-to HR resource for employees and managers, fostering an inclusive culture, and addressing workplace concerns promptly and effectively.
- Strategic Collaboration: Implement HR programs seamlessly, ensuring effective communication and anticipating challenges.
- Employee Relations: Proactively manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, including conducting investigations, coaching, and conflict resolution, while collaborating with HR Business Partners and legal counsel as needed.
- Performance Enhancement: Coach leaders through performance and accountability conversations, facilitate performance reviews, and ensure fair and equitable treatment across all levels.
- Leave and Accommodation Management: Oversee and support leaves of absence and accommodations under CFRA, FMLA, ADA, PDL, and Paid Sick Leave regulations.
- Compliance and Analytics: Maintain compliance with employment laws and wage and hour regulations, leveraging data and analytics to drive meaningful insights and strategies.
- Compensation Practices: Provide guidance on compensation matters, particularly around exempt vs. non-exempt classifications, ensuring compliance and fairness.
- Multi-Site Support: Support and manage HR needs across multiple hospital locations, effectively prioritizing and balancing competing demands.
- Relationship Building: Build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization to foster collaboration and open communication.
- Travel: Manage frequent travel between multiple hospital sites independently, balancing priorities and time management effectively.
Qualifications:
- Experience and Education: Minimum of 3-5 years in an HR/Generalist role supporting multi-site field operations is required. California HR certification is strongly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office applications and HRIS systems; Ceridian experience is advantageous.
- HR Expertise: Strong understanding of employee relations, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence/accommodations, compensation practices, and employment laws.
- Leadership and Coaching: Ability to coach leaders through performance and accountability conversations with confidence and empathy.
- Relationship Building: Proven ability to build trusted relationships across all organizational levels.
- Problem Solver: Navigate ambiguity with ease, handling multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.
- Travel Readiness: Ability and willingness to travel frequently and manage workload independently.
