Position: Kennel Attendant

Opened in May 2024, our brand-new, 24,000-square-foot hospital in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, delivers high-quality emergency and specialty care to pets across the greater Halifax Regional Municipality. Compensation
- $17–$23/hour, based on skill level and assessment
- $2.50/hour shift premium
- Weekdays: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- Weekends: Friday 5:00 p.m. – Monday 8:00 a.m
- Targeting three 12-hour shifts per week (days)
- Includes a mix of days, evenings—flexibility required

As a Kennel Attendant, you’ll be responsible for maintaining cleanliness throughout the hospital. We're looking for someone who is hardworking and thrives in a busy environment. You’ll play a key part in ensuring smooth communication, compassionate support, and a welcoming environment for every visitor. This is a stepping-stone position—it’s a vital role at the heart of our hospital.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the hospital. Including, but not limited to cleaning/maintaining kennels, laundry and dishes.
- Restocking supplies
- Collaborate closely with medical teams to support patient care
- Observing animal behaviour and wellbeing. Notifying team members of any concerns
- Assisting staff with animal restraint
- Additional administrative or support tasks as needed
- Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a team environment
- Comfortable handling animals
- Physically able
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role.
