SAGE Veterinary Centers – Redwood City is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Senior Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency & Critical Care team on a per diem basis. As the Bay Area's premier specialty and emergency veterinary hospital, SAGE Redwood City provides advanced emergency and critical care for hospitalized patients requiring intensive monitoring and specialized treatment.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will:
- Triage and admit emergency patients.
- Deliver advanced nursing care to critically ill and injured hospitalized patients.
- Continuously monitor patients and communicate changes in condition to the medical team.
- Administer medications and continuous rate infusions (CRIs).
- Perform in-house laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures.
- Place intravenous (IV) catheters and collect diagnostic samples.
- Conduct accurate patient rounds and maintain detailed medical records.
- Safely handle and restrain fearful, fractious, and critically ill patients.
- Obtain and monitor temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR) measurements.
- Recognize changes requiring immediate veterinary intervention.
- Advocate for both patients and clients by providing compassionate communication and support.
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and support staff to deliver exceptional patient care.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with at least two years of clinical veterinary experience, or a Senior Veterinary Assistant with at least three consecutive years of Emergency/Critical Care experience.
- Strong technical skills including IV catheter placement, laboratory procedures, advanced patient monitoring, and emergency nursing.
- Ability to accurately calculate medication dosages, CRIs, client estimates, and invoices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both clients and team members.
- California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire if not a licensed California RVT.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency and critical care environment.
- Flexibility to work per diem shifts, including some holidays.
