Are you ready to take your veterinary career to the next level? Join our dynamic team of professionals at Bulger Veterinary Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts! Our growing Emergency department is adding the BRAND-NEW role of a Triage Veterinary Technician to become an integral part of our team.

As a Triage Veterinary Technician:
You'll play a crucial role in our state-of-the-art facility, conducting rapid patient assessments within 15 minutes of their arrival at the emergency department. Your expertise will be vital in prioritizing patients based on their stability and complaints, ensuring efficient and effective care.

Schedule:

  • Four 9-hour shifts including one weekend shift
  • Shift hours:
    • 6a – 3p
    • 3p – 12a
Compensation:
  • $23 - $30 pending skills assessment leveling
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Swift Assessments: Conduct assessments within 15 minutes of patient arrival, prioritizing based on stability and utilizing the patient severity index.
  • Efficient Workflow: Utilize Smartflow's ER board and workflow template for seamless patient transfer and organization.
  • Family Updates: Provide brief reevaluations and updates to patient families, ensuring transparent communication.
  • Phone Communication: Handle phone communications regarding patient care, addressing concerns, and providing information.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Patient Stabilization: Assist in stabilizing patients with tasks like IV catheter placement, drug/fluid therapy, and CPR.
  • Accurate Documentation: Monitor and document patient conditions accurately in medical records.
  • Client Education: Ensure proper discharge procedures with client education on home care, medications, and monitoring.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain transparent communication with the patient care team regarding treatment plans and nursing care concerns.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in technical skills such as placing catheters, venipuncture, and safe patient restraint.
