Alpharetta Veterinary Specialty + Emergency (AVSE) is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our Overnight Emergency team in Alpharetta, GA. This is an opportunity to work in a brand-new specialty and emergency hospital while caring for emergency patients alongside an experienced medical team.

Licensed Veterinary Technicians with Emergency Medicine experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities

As a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant on our Emergency team, you will help provide hands-on care for emergency patients in a fast-paced specialty hospital.

• Assist veterinarians with emergency patient assessments, treatments, and procedures

• Triage and safely restrain and handle emergency patients

• Provide nursing care and monitor patients throughout treatment and hospitalization

• Perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection as appropriate to your training and credentials

• Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery

• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians

• Assist with diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, and other emergency procedures

• Accurately perform medication calculations and follow established treatment protocols

• Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to the medical team

• Maintain accurate medical records and patient treatment documentation

• Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding patient care and treatment

• Collaborate with veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and other hospital team members

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient treatment environment

• Support a positive, respectful, and collaborative hospital culture

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant

• Emergency veterinary medicine experience preferred

• LVT or VTS certification prioritized

• Strong knowledge of basic veterinary medicine, including triage, restraint, diagnostic imaging, phlebotomy, venipuncture, anesthesia induction/monitoring/recovery, drug calculations, medication administration, and laboratory procedures

• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced emergency environment

• Excellent communication skills with clients and veterinary team members

• Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to the needs of individual patients

• Dependable, compassionate, and committed to excellent patient care

• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
