Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center (ECVMC) is hiring an experienced Referral Relationship Manager to support continued growth across our specialty and emergency veterinary network in Wilmington, North Carolina.

This full-time, field-based role is ideal for candidates with experience in veterinary relationship management, veterinary business development, referral outreach, hospital partnerships, account management, or veterinary industry leadership. You’ll spend approximately 4 days per week in the field building relationships with referring veterinary hospitals and one administrative day onsite at ECVMC.

Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 annually, based on experience 

Schedule: 

  • Full-time
  • Approximately 40+ hours weekly
  • Average of 4 field days per week visiting referring veterinary hospitals and community partners
  • 1 administrative day onsite at ECVMC
  • Occasional evening or weekend attendance for CE events, community outreach, or networking activities

As the Referral Relationship Manager, you will serve as the primary liaison between Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center and the regional referring veterinary community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referring veterinarians, hospital teams, and community partners
  • Conduct in-person veterinary hospital visits throughout the region
  • Develop referral outreach and partnership growth strategies
  • Support referral retention and improve the referral experience
  • Coordinate continuing education events, hospital tours, and community engagement activities
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, specialists, emergency clinicians, and marketing teams
  • Track referral activity, trends, and engagement through CRM systems and reporting tools
  • Support business development initiatives and regional hospital growth
  • Promote specialty and emergency veterinary services to referring practices
  • Maintain consistent communication with veterinary partners across assigned territories

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in account management, business development, relationship management, marketing, customer service, or veterinary outreach
  • Veterinary industry experience strongly preferred
  • Veterinary specialty, emergency, or referral hospital experience preferred
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Comfortable using CRM systems, reporting tools, and outreach tracking platforms
  • Self-starter mindset with strong follow-through and accountability
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Reliable transportation for local and regional travel
  • Ability to travel regularly to veterinary hospitals and partner locations
  • Flexibility to occasionally support evening or weekend events
