Compensation: $21.75 - $28.00/hr, based on experience. Additional shift differential pay available for overnights. 

Schedule: Full-time, three 12-hour shifts.

Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral is seeking an experienced veterinary technician for our busy Emergency department. The 24/7 Emergency service works closely with our specialty services offering Surgery, Orthopedics, and Animal Rehabilitation. We have CT scanning capabilities to complement our digital x-ray and ultrasound services, along with full in house labs.

About You: An experienced Veterinary Technician that thrives in an ever-changing environment, equipped to stay calm and knows how to react quickly during life-threatening circumstances. Position Responsibilities:  

  • Triage incoming emergency patients and manage their care throughout their visit.
  • Assist the ER veterinarian with assessments, diagnostics, procedures and treatments. 
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, obtaining TPRs, and blood pressures.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and monitor all aspects of anesthesia under the guidance of a veterinarian, including ECG, SpO2, EtCO2, and NIBP. Provide pre- and post-surgical care for patients.
  • Handle and process laboratory samples for submission to local and offsite labs. 
  • Accurately obtain and relay detailed patient histories. Document records, treatment and diagnostics into EzyVet. Maintain accurate and detailed communication logs, handle department voicemail, client callbacks and documentation. Educate and communicate with clients regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, review of estimates, and follow-up care. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years working as a veterinary technician, preferably in Emergency and/or Specialty medicine. Veterinary Technician Certification/License prioritized.
  • Attention to detail, with strong communication skills with both clients and team members
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
