Ready to take your veterinary technical skills into specialty medicine?

Join the Internal Medicine team at SAGE Redwood City and build your experience with advanced diagnostics, anesthesia, endoscopy, CT, fluoroscopy, and the management of complex medical cases—all while working a consistent four-day schedule.

We're looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician or Senior Veterinary Assistant with strong foundational technical skills and an interest in Internal Medicine. You don't need to already know every specialty procedure we perform. We're looking for someone who's ready to bring their experience, keep learning, and grow with our team.

Why Join SAGE Redwood City

Internal Medicine is a great fit for veterinary professionals who love figuring out the "why" behind a patient's symptoms.

You'll work alongside veterinary specialists while gaining exposure to:

  • Endoscopy and minimally invasive procedures
  • Bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, and cystoscopy
  • CT and fluoroscopy
  • Advanced anesthesia
  • Complex diagnostic workups
  • Chronic disease management
  • Hospitalized and outpatient specialty care

You'll also have access to continuing education, specialty mentorship, and career development opportunities throughout SAGE and Ethos Veterinary Health.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will

  • Provide hands-on nursing care and monitoring for Internal Medicine patients.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, and in-house diagnostics.
  • Prepare patients and assist with endoscopy and other Internal Medicine procedures.
  • Support diagnostic imaging including radiographs, CT, and fluoroscopy.
  • Assist with anesthesia preparation, monitoring, and patient recovery.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, CRIs, and prescribed treatments under veterinarian supervision.
  • Assist with NG tubes, fluid pumps, and other Internal Medicine patient-care needs.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate important changes to the medical team.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and properly clean, sterilize, and maintain equipment.
  • Collaborate with Internal Medicine specialists, Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, Emergency, and other Specialty teams.

What You Bring

  • Previous veterinary hospital experience with strong hands-on technical skills.
  • Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, patient monitoring, and hospitalized patient care.
  • Anesthesia and anesthetic-monitoring experience.
  • Strong animal handling and patient restraint skills.
  • Ability to accurately perform veterinary medical calculations.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A genuine interest in learning and developing your skills in Internal Medicine and specialty veterinary care.

Internal Medicine experience is preferred, but it doesn't have to be where you started. Experience in Emergency, Surgery, Anesthesia, Specialty, or another fast-paced veterinary environment may translate well to this team.

Current California RVT licensure is preferred but not required for this position.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Up to $40.00/hour, based on experience and skill set
  • $6,000–$8,000 sign-on bonus
  • Full-time
  • Four 10-hour shifts

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
