Veterinary Technician Specialist, Anesthesia (VTS) | Anesthesia | $35–$45/hr + on-call compensation | Full-Time Benefits | Three 12-hour shifts | Woburn, MA

Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital (MVRH) is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician Specialist, Anesthesia (VTS) to join our 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Woburn, Massachusetts.

This is an opportunity to work alongside boarded anesthesiologists supporting advanced specialty, surgical, and critical care procedures in a collaborative referral environment. As a Level 1 trauma center, MVRH offers advanced medicine, complex cases, and the opportunity to work at the highest level of your training while making a meaningful impact on patient care every day.

Compensation

  • $35–$45/hour based on experience and credentials
  • Additional compensation for voluntary overnight anesthesia on-call responsibilities
Schedule
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Rotating weekend shifts required

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement anesthetic plans for specialty and critical care patients
  • Prepare patients for anesthesia, induction, and intubation
  • Monitor anesthesia during orthopedic, soft tissue, thoracic, neurologic, and ophthalmic procedures
  • Perform advanced technical skills including:
    • Venipuncture
    • Arterial catheter placement
    • Local blocks and epidurals
  • Provide post-operative recovery monitoring and patient care
  • Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and specialty teams
  • Support technician training and mentorship
  • Participate in voluntary overnight anesthesia on-call rotation
Qualifications
  • VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia) required
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT) required
  • Previous veterinary anesthesia experience required
  • Strong technical, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty veterinary hospital environment
  • Positive, team-oriented mindset
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 12 hours per shift
