Schedule: Full-Time | Four days per week

South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (SAVES) is hiring a credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our growing Neurology team in Asheville, North Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity for an RVT, LVT, or CVT who is passionate about advanced medicine and wants to work alongside an experienced neurologist while caring for complex neurological patients. Specialty experience is preferred, but SAVES is willing to train the right Veterinary Technician with strong technical skills, a commitment to learning, and a passion for exceptional patient care.

Compensation

  • $24.00–$34.00 per hour, based on experience
  • $2,500 Sign-On Bonus Structure available to Registered Veterinary Technicians
  • Additional compensation available for on-call pay and incentives

Responsibilities

  • Assist with neurological examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional nursing care to hospitalized neurology patients.
  • Monitor anesthesia and sedation for advanced procedures and diagnostic imaging.
  • Perform accurate drug calculations and medication administration.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Support MRI, CT, and other advanced diagnostic procedures.
  • Develop and utilize advanced neurology nursing, anesthesia, and patient monitoring skills.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with board-certified specialists, veterinarians, veterinary team members, and pet owners.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support neurology patients and procedures.
  • Deliver compassionate, efficient patient care in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital environment.
  • Collaborate with specialty teams across Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Emergency & Critical Care, and Neurology.

Qualifications

  • Current RVT, LVT, or CVT credential required.
  • Strong anesthesia knowledge and patient monitoring skills.
  • Excellent patient handling and restraint techniques.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and adaptable in a fast-paced specialty environment.
  • Commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and exceptional patient care.
  • Three to five years of veterinary experience preferred.
  • At least one year of specialty or emergency veterinary experience preferred.
  • Experience with advanced anesthesia monitoring and critical patient care preferred.
  • Experience with ezyVet and SmartFlow preferred.
  • Previous neurology, specialty, or referral hospital experience preferred.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills are required for this role. Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
