Veterinary Anesthesia Technician (RVT)
Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) is looking for a full-time Veterinary Anesthesia Technician
About the Job:
At Veterinary Specialty Hospital we offer a variety of anesthetic cases that will keep the technician feeling challenged and engaged. The anesthetist will use their knowledge of physiology, disease processes, and pharmacology to support our patients through their anesthetic plans and provide excellent anesthesia. They will grow to obtain proficiency with advanced technical skills.
You will be responsible for performing anesthesia for our specialty patients, with specific focus on neurology, dermatology, and radiation oncology providing the highest quality care.
We are looking for someone with anesthesia and nursing care experience, with great attention to detail, who is a positive team player and excited by continuous learning and development. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional, compassionate, client service is expected
As an anesthesia technician you will be responsible for:
- Perform anesthetic monitoring including intubation/extubation of patients, monitoring patients, and trouble shooting machines
- Obtain and prepare various blood samples for diagnostic testing
- Accurately take and process multiple types of radiographs throughout the pre and post operative process
- Perform sterile scrub and assist doctors throughout surgical procedures
- Knowledge of normal patient vitals for awake, sedated and anesthetized patients
- Opportunity to continue to advance anesthesia skills and support to purse VTS for anesthesia
- Coordinating procedure times across specialty departments
- Running anesthesia cases for multiple departments
- Train newly hired technicians as well as current technicians seeking to broaden or improve their skills
- Assist with anesthesia planning and troubleshooting complications
- Maintaining anesthetic equipment
- Assist with coordinating hospital anesthesia cases
- Provide basic husbandry for patients
- Perform appropriate patient restraint
- Provide care for patients as directed by the veterinarian
- Provide support to veterinarians and assist in other departments as requested
- Intravenous catheter placement and fluid administration
- Triage and perform life saving procedures (CPR) when necessary
- Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records
Education, License and Job Requirements:
- 5+ Years of experience as a veterinary technician
- Must be a Certified, Registered, or Licensed Veterinary Technician
- Veterinary Technician Specialty in anesthesia is a plus, those interested in pursuing their VTS are encouraged to apply
Our compensation for this role depends on skillset, experience, licensure and typically falls between $25.00 and $40.00 plus on-call pay.
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT): $26.00 - $35.00
- Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS): $38.00 - $50.00
