Veterinary Technician, Emergency (RVT Required) | $28–$35/hr + $2/hr Overnight Differential + $3,000 Sign-On Bonus | Full-Time Benefits | Three 12-Hour Shifts | Mississauga, ON
Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital of West Toronto is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician (RVT/LVT/CVT) to join our Emergency Department in Mississauga, Ontario. Whether you're already working in emergency medicine or you're a strong GP technician ready to transition into ER, you'll have the opportunity to build advanced technical skills, work with a wide variety of emergency cases, and practice at the top of your license in a collaborative 24/7 emergency and referral hospital.
Compensation
- $28–$35/hour based on experience and skillset
- $2/hour overnight differential (8:00 PM–7:00 AM)
- $3,000 sign-on bonus
- Three 12-hour shifts per week
- Rotating days and overnights
- Every other weekend required

As a Veterinary Technician in our Emergency Department, you'll work closely with DVMs and fellow RVTs to provide exceptional patient care for urgent, emergent, and critical cases.
- Triage and emergency patient assessment
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Monitoring hospitalized patients and delivering nursing care
- Patient vitals and ongoing treatment monitoring
- Anesthesia support, surgical preparation, and recovery
- Diagnostic imaging, including radiographs
- ECG monitoring
- Laboratory sample collection and processing
- Client communication and education
- Assisting with emergency procedures and treatments
- Central line placement assistance
- Urinary catheter placement
- NG tubes and nasal cannulas
- Chest tubes
- Feeding tubes
- Blood transfusions
- Advanced CPR (RECOVER training provided)
Qualifications
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required; CVT/LVT equivalents considered
- Emergency or critical care experience preferred, but strong GP Veterinary Technicians looking to transition into ER are encouraged to apply
- Strong anesthesia and patient care skills
- Ability to prioritize and work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Passion for emergency medicine and continued learning
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
